The Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP) has released its 2025 Annual Activity Report, presenting a year in which the Institute broadened its role in language technology, artificial intelligence, and cultural heritage research across Greece and Europe.

Building on the success of Meltemi, ILSP expanded its family of open Greek Large Language Models with the launch of Llama-Krikri and VOX-Krikri. The year also saw the launch of Pharos, the Greek AI Factory, in which ILSP leads the Language and Culture domain, as well as the continuation of the Institute’s involvement in the Common European Language Data Space and its active participation in the Alliance for Language Technologies (ALT-EDIC).

Cultural heritage remained a central pillar of ILSP’s work in 2025, marked by the successful conclusion of the PREMIERE project, recognised by the European Commission as a Success Story, together with new initiatives under the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH). The report further documents ILSP’s contributions to trustworthy AI, education, public administration, and environmental monitoring, as well as its outreach, training, and dissemination activities throughout the year.
