ILSP / “Athena” R.C. has collaborated with Kastaniotis Editions S.A. for the Greek version of the project.

The project aimed to improve and develop support for language teaching and learning by sharing expertise between established and emerging Language Resource Centres. It brought together a consortium of 17 partner organisations from 16 European countries.

LRC helped centres expand their access by introducing new languages (especially LWULT languages), new services (e.g. distant access, new media) and increasing the number of users (e.g. opening up to a wider public).

The project achieved this by:

  • writing and publishing practical, easy-to-read Good Practice Guidelines (available in print in 4 languages and on the Internet in 14 languages) for anyone involved in setting-up or running Language Resource Centres (LRCs);
  • generating professional dialogue which will form the basis of an electronic network for LRC co-ordinators hosted on the public project portal;
  • making the public project portal available for at least 2 years after the end of the funded phase of the project to ensure that the international network of support and expertise built up during the project will continue to develop and have an impact beyond the duration of the project itself.
