Tsaoussidis Vassilis
Vassilis Tsaoussidis, was born in Drama, Greece, in November 1966. He holds degrees in Applied Mathematics (Aristotle University, Greece) and Computer Science (Ph.D 1995 in Computer Networks Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany). Vassilis held a postdoctoral appointment at the Department of Computer Science, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ US and faculty appointments at the Computer Science Department of SUNY Stony Brook, NY, US and at the college of Computer Science of Northeastern University, Boston, MA, US. He returned to Greece in May 2003 to join the Faculty of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Democritus University, where he was elected full Professor in 2007. Vassilis was also Visiting Professor at the MIT Dept. of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He was/is editor in well-known journals including IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, the Journal of Computer Networks, Ad Hoc Networks, and others. He chaired several conferences and delivered over 50 keynotes and invited talks, including talks at MIT, NASA JPL, ESA/ESOC, University of Cambridge, Consultative Committee for Space Standards and many other institutions. Vassilis has graduated 16 Ph.D students. He was National Representative for FP7 Cooperation – Space and member of the Board of Directors for Hellenic Space Agency. During 2012-2017, he served as elected member of Democritus University Council.
