Nikolaos Kazakis received his diploma in Chemical Engineering with honors from the Chemical Engineering Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2003. After his graduation, he continued his studies at the same Department, from where he received his 1st PhD Degree in Chemical Engineering in 2008 (grade excellent). The title of his Thesis was “Study of bubble column equipped with porous gas sparger”. After serving the military, in 2009, he worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki for approximately a year. In 2010 he joined the Laboratory of Archaeometry and Physicochemical Measurements of R.C. “Athena” in Xanthi and worked there as an Adjunct Researcher and Post-Doctoral Fellow until early 2019. In parallel, he was been working at the Quality Assurance Unit (MO.DI.P) of the Democritus University of Thrace as an external associate for almost 4 years. In 2013 he decided to enroll in the PhD program of the School of Physics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and in 2018, he received his 2nd PhD Degree in Physics/Dosimetry (grade excellent). The title of his Thesis was “High-dose dosimetry with emphasis on the industrial sterilization and accidental radiation dosimetry”. He serves as a Principal Researcher since March 2019 with area of expertise “Dosimetry and analytical radiation methods”.

He participates in the writing, submitting and implementation of research projects, funded by National (Greek) or European resources since 2004. His research activity is mainly of laboratory nature. His main research interests include: Archaeometry, research on special radiation dosimetry methods (retrospective, post-sterilization, accidental, forensic dosimetry), physicochemical and luminescence measurements of various materials (e.g. dating) using advanced diagnostic and analytical methods using (or without) radiation, analysis, simulation and design of physicochemical processes with emphasis on the gas-liquid two-phase flow (bubble column).

His research work has more than 520 citations, while he also acts as Referee in several international scientific journals in physics, archaeometry, chemical engineering and medical statistics. He has co-supervised the internship and the diploma theses of several students. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Hellenic Association of Chemical Engineers.
