Anna Vacalopoulou has an MA in Lexicography (Exeter University). She has designed and written or co-written more than twenty dictionaries and other reference works, including paper, electronic, monolingual, bilingual, multilingual, and multimodal (sign language) works. She coordinated the translation (into 19 languages) of the European Commission’s Education & Culture website (Tender no. 31/06).

She has been working at ILSP since 1998 participating in several national and European projects, including AI4EDU, A knight in the castle of letters & A knight in the castle of words, Drasi, Easier, Greek in Technical and Vocational Education, Greek-Turkish Dictionary, Greek-Turkish dictionary for young learnersGRE-TASTE, iWalk, MOBOT, Mythotopia (best practice in NSRF projects), Noema, Polytropon, P61, Trilingual Term Dictionary. She was project leader / coordinator for ILSP in Deaf Port, e-MiLang, LRC as well as the triplet Lingu@net Europa PLUS, Lingu@network, Lingu@net World Wide leading to the development and enhancement of the Lingu@net virtual languages resource centre that was awarded the MERLOT award for being ‘exemplary on-line learning material for all disciplines’ and the European Commission’s Gold prize in the “European Lifelong Learning Awards for quality in mobility”. She has been contributing to the design, implementation, and update of HNC, the first online language corpus of Modern Greek. She co-authored Lexicography for All, the first handbook of Lexicography written in Greek. She is a member of the management committee of COST Action CA22126 European Network on Lexical Innovation.
