The National HLT (Human Language Technology) Infodesk is continuing its activities in relation to national potential and opportunities in the sector.

Athens, 28th June 2000 -The national Infodesk on Human Language Technology and its application to network and computer technologies, is renewing its activity, offering its services to all related organisations in the country. The Infodesk is housed in the Institute for Language and Speech Processing, within the framework of the HOPE project which is funded by DG XIII of the European Commission as a continuation of the previous EUROMAP project.

It is reminded that this office provides existing or potential researchers, suppliers and users of Human Language Technologies, with information relating to organisations, products, programmes and events, both on a national and an international level. The aim is to promote the sector and to identify the potential in various productive areas.

The office constitutes a national focal point for all related dissemination activities originating from the European Commission on Human Language Technology issues. Essentially, it will function as a source of information for the "Human Language Technologies" action line of the Information Society Technology (IST) programme, under the Fifth Framework Programme for Research and Technology in Europe, which is funded by the European Commission. This service is directed at research and development centres aiming to form collaborations in order to submit proposals for funding, in the framework of the above-mentioned programme.
